Through programs such as Deconstruction Services, KC Habitat ReStore has provided the community an environmentally conscious alternative to demolition. This process of hand dismantling allows homeowners to donate salvaged materials to ReStore while making room remodeling. Homeowners receive a tax benefit as a result of the donation and ReStore gains building materials to be returned to the community.
KC Habitat ReStore is wholly open to the public and has no residency or income restrictions. Shoppers reap the benefits of deeply discounted prices and are able to make their dollars stretch farther. ReStore creates a winning environment for everyone involved.
As a member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), Kansas City Chamber of Commerce ReStore was created as a fund raising branch of Habitat for Humanity Kansas City. In addition to raising more than $700,000 through sales to support Habitat for Humanity’s mission of eliminating substandard housing in the Kansas City community, KC Habitat ReStore has diverted more than 9,000 tons of material from the waste stream.
